It get worse...

I was checking out Juliana's gums this morning and in addition to the two bottom teeth coming in toward each other, she is also cutting both upper teeth...GOOD GRIEF CHILD!!!

First Signs of Teeth...

So Juliana has been very irritable lately and I figured she wasn't feeling well. Then the running nose came, followed by runny diapers and then waking frequently to ice the cake. Today I decided to try to feel around again and see if anything is coming since her top gums look so swollen and low and behold I felt two sharp objects. Thinking it was one tooth with two sharp corners I looked inside and on the bottom she has TWO teeth coming in at the same time ... but wait it gets better ... they are growing at an angle toward each other, like a V! OUCH!!! My poor little girl :0(

10 Months

Our little Juliana has been growing up right before our eyes. I turned around one day and she suddenly looked older in the face and seemed taller. According to our growth chart she is near 30" tall! All the sudden one day she started shaking her head no when she didn't want something. It is so darn cute!! She is also starting to learn sign language, how to wave bye bye and give 5 :0) yup, she sure is growing up before our eyes. Pretty soon we'll be celebrating her one year birthday :0(

First Snow

Juliana say her first snow yesterday evening and although it was actually sticking you couldn't see it if we took a photo. She loved it though, she would toss her head back until one hit her face then lean up and grin at me :) THAT'S a great memory!

What we've been up to...

Well we have been pretty busy here lately. I'm trying to think of everything I need to catch you all up on...

A couple weeks ago Juliana got very sick and was throwing up everywhere. She seemed to be find after doing so but Jonathan soon followed then it was my turn. We are all feeling better now and trying to avoid the other crud floating around :)

I had my LEEP procedure to remove the pre-cancer cells in my cervix a week ago. They had to do more than they thought so it was definitely NOT a painless procedure but I endured it and am feeling better now. The doctor has me on some medications to help with some side effects I am having but the good news is the results came back and she got it all! Now I just have to be checked out every couple months to make sure it doesn't come back.

Some other good news we found out lately is that we got the house we wanted at Ft. Bragg, which is a great stress reliever. It's always nerve wrecking to move somewhere and live out of a hotel until you find a home in the 10 days the army gives you to find a home! We are very excited about all the more room we'll have (especially the playroom and big backyard) and I have already talked to a few of our new neighbors who are in the SF community as well (which will be awesome to have support right across the street!). We are still trying to sell Jonathan's truck so we can get into an SUV. Today someone flagged down Jonathan while driving on post and asked about it so we are anxious so see if he comes to look at it this weekend.

I have been busy trying my hand a scrap booking for the first time, I got this idea that I wanted to make Juliana's first birthday invitations. Guess we'll see how they come out :) Who knew designing kitchens would come so much easier to me than designing a simple birthday invite!! I guess that's it for now, more to come soon!

Playing in the play area at the mall, we go there almost everyday just to get out of the house and play with our friends :) Juliana loves to watch the other kids and crawls almost faster than some of the other kids walk!

Soooo...Jonathan decided Juliana needed some chapstick but couldn't find any regular chapstick so he thought it would be a good idea to use my colored chapstick...here is the end result :)

My Day At The Radiology Department

Today I had my upper GI test at the children's hospital in Louisville. Mom and dad were up all night with me feeding, even though I don't usually eat in the middle of the night, because I couldn't eat after 5am and they didn't want me to be starving when I woke up. Well it worked, we were up early to make the hour long drive to Louisville and I did great! I didn't fuss once :) The radiology department was running behind so our 9:30 appointment turned into 10:30. My first xray of my tummy empty didn't work because I moved so we went back to the room for another shot. After that, they strapped me down to a board that turned me upside down. I was NOT cool with this but mom and dad did a pretty good job at comforting me. I had to drink Barium which is really thick and white. The Barium made it easier for the doctor to watch food go down my esophagus and into my tummy. I refluxed once during the procedure and once while waiting. After that we had to wait and every 30 minutes they took more images to watch my tummy empty. All in all we didn't leave until 2pm and the only information we got was that I eat too fast and my tummy empties slower than normal. Mom is going to call and get more information in a few days once they have had time to read all the films... and that was my day in the radiology department!

My First Trip To The Park

Yesterday Jonathan got off work early so we took the opportunity to take Juliana to the park for the first time since the weather has been sooo nice lately! Even though she couldn't do anything but the swings she LOVED it so we will have to go more often until the weather gets too cold. Enjoy the pictures, she's growing up fast!

Costume Party

On Saturday we had a costume party for the adults and we got a sitter for Jules. We went as Mr. and Mrs. Smith from the movies. It was our first party to go to in quite a while and we had a blast. The couple hosting the party was Rhett and Scarlett, another couple were trailer trash (you'll find them in the mullet wigs!), there was Mary and her little lamb and another couple went as cloudy with a chance of rain. Juliana was asleep before we left so the sitter didn't have to do much which was nice. I think next year we will have a family costume party!!

Well last night was our first Halloween! Jonathan had to work but was able to run home and go to a few houses with us. We went to our friend's neighborhood and met a few friends there to go trick or treating as a group. Juliana was a little lamb. She is 9 months old now and you can see how much she has grown... starting to look less like a baby and more like a little person, especially now that she is pulling herself up and down and cruising around furniture :) Hope you enjoy the pictures!

Family Trip to Hinton's Orchard

This past weekend some friends invited us to Hinton's Orchards to go to a pumpkin patch and hayride. We had already bought a pumpkin but thought the trip would be a good family outing and chance to make some new friends :)
It was surprisingly cold that day, and it had rained alot the day before, but we still had a blast. Juliana loved the hayride and was very intrigued with the pumpkins. I didn't know the vines to the pumpkins hurt so Jonathan had to pull out two little splinters from my fingers...leave it to me :) After visiting the small and big pumpkin patches we returned to the little shop where they made all kinds of jams and pies. We went inside one of the grain storage silos that they had turned into a play area for the kids... pretty smart actually, they had a table set up like a sand box only it was corn - much easier to clean up!

We also visited the calves that were being weened from their moms. Juliana was also very intrigued by them and wanted to touch one but I was for sure she'd catch some disease so I stayed just out of her reach!
All in all we had a fantastic day and look forward to making this a yearly tradition! Thanks to the Burton's for inviting us!! There are too many photos to put right here so be sure to check out the slideshow on the right :)

Our First Cold

Well it may not look like it but we are suffering from our first cold. I say "we" because I am lacking in energy and have a runny nose too. Juliana became congested after the Spur Ride last week and couldn't sleep all night. We turned on her humidifier, suctioned her nose as much as we could and rubbed baby vapor rub on her chest but she still kept waking up because she couldn't figure out how to breathe through her mouth. She seemed to get better the next day so we chalked it up to her being outside all day with Jonathan at the Spur Ride but the congestion is back. For the first time her teachers are church said she wasn't very happy and all day yesterday you could just tell she didn't feel good... she napped more than she usually does and just wanted to snuggle - which was fine by me :) I cherish the times she snuggles with me! Thanks GG for the cute outfit!

Spouse Spur Ride

So the 16th Cavalry Unit here at Ft. Knox (the unit Jonathan is attached to during his training here) threw a Spouse Spur Ride. Spouses from all the different groups of the 16th Cav formed into teams and competed in several events. We had to be out there at 0830 which was WAY too early for most of us. Right off the bat we had to do a PT test consisting of push ups, sit ups and a quarter mile run. Our team did the best in that event, thanks to teamate Lindsay who plays Rugby every weekend! Then it was on to the obstacle course, where we had to do all kinds of things. It was a timed event and you couldn't leave any man behind :) Our team got first in that too! We then headed to the grenade range where our "sack lunch" was an MRE (Meal Ready to Eat, for those of you who have no clue what that is, it is what the soldiers have to eat all the time, everything is pre packaged in plastic and usually tastes pretty bad). I got an ok MRE but mainly filled up on cheese crackers. it was fun to learn how to heat everything up though and see what the guys have to go through all the time. We then got a brief lesson in how to throw grenades then we had another obstacle course only this time we had to hit targets with grenades. After that we headed to a MOUNT site (don't know what MOUNT stands for but it is a little village made of buildings used to teach soldiers urban tactile stuff like entering and clearing a room). We got to use M4s equipped with paint balls to enter and clear and building while some of the cadre (teachers) were in the second story of the building shooting at us! At the end the 16th Cav provided us a dinner and awards ceremony. All in all it was a VERY exhausting but super fun day! It was great getting to spend time with the other spouses and get a glimpse at what our husbands do when training :) Jonathan was out there with Juliana almost all day and it was great to have them there cheering me on! The next day, however, I was soooooo sore!! I used muscles I didn't know I had and got bumps and bruises all over my legs :)

Slugger Museum

This past Tuesday Jonathan had the day off so we took the opportunity to go see the Louisville Slugger Museum before we move. The actual museum part was smaller than I thought it would be but the bat tour was very cool. We got to see them actually making the bats for major and minor league players, branding the bats, staining the bats ... everything from beginning to end. Juliana did very well and was intrigued by everything going on. We saw Mitchell Delaney's bat's drying (who apparently is a minor leaguer who may have just been drafter to the Yankees?!?) and Mia Hamm's husband's bats drying! Afterwards we saw a special exhibit going on right now with baseballs signed by 18 different presidents. After the museum we headed down the street to find a little cafe for lunch but first I recognized a hotel I wanted to show Jonathan. He didn't understand why I wanted him to see the men's room so bad until he walked in and saw that the urinal was actually a waterfall with a one way glass wall that Jules and I were standing on the other side of waving at him. He didn't know we couldn't see him so naturally that freaked him out! And at the sink they have little TVs with different people's eyes looking at you! After that we took a quick browse of the art gallery in the hotel's lobby and found an American flag made out of little green army men then painted red, white and blue... very cool! Then it was on to lunch. We found a cute little cafe that very much reminded me of back home (D.C. that is!). All in all we had a great day in Louisville and hope to find time to keep seeing something new while we are here!

What I've Been Up To...

I have been very busy this month. I have learned to pull up on my own and am a pro at it now. I am also starting to walk by myself with a push toy and I love to babble and talk to myself. I like to say 'dada'! I also have learned to wave bye bye although sometimes I am like my mommy and won't do it on command. :)

Mommy and daddy joined a Okolona Christian Church last Sunday and were baptised together today. They wanted to dedicate me but they already missed the dedication Sunday. I also like the new church, I never cry when we go to the nursery... as a matter of fact I don't even look back when mommy and daddy say bye bye :)

My reflux has not gotten any better and the soonest the specialist can see me is the 23rd. Mommy also has not heard back from her doctor but should know something this Thursday.

Mommy is all banged up right now. She was playing and slid on the tile and fell down. Her wrist and elbow and bottom hurt for several days after that. Then she hurt her foot but doesn't know how. And yesterday while I was napping mommy and daddy were arranging the garage for the movers when a huge piece of glass to the coffee table fell on mom. Her knee is all black and blue! She and some of the other ladies have a fun day planned this Wednesday that she hopes to heal up for. They are going to do an obstacle course, paintball, learn to throw grenades, learn how to clear a room and shoot at some targets!

Daddy was just in the field and mommy got to go out one day and see him at work. She got to crawl around in a tank and then see one of daddy's missions take place. Daddy had several days off after that to make up for being out in the field so we all packed up and headed to Aunt Becky and Uncle Paul's. We got to see Allison, Granny, Father Don, Ellen and PaBish too. PaBish turned out to be my favorite - I just wanted to sit in his lap the whole time! We plan on returning at Thanksgiving :) Daddy also has a four day this weekend because of the holiday so we are headed to the Louisville Slugger Museum tomorrow to see bats being made!

Other than that, not much to report ;0) We are already preparing for our next move but anxious about this one since we will stay put for a while and daddy's is ready to start his Special Forces schooling!

If that's not the face of trouble I don't know what is!
