I KNEW IT!!!

So we went to the doctor again today and they remeasured Jules to be 28 1/4" tall, NOT 27". That means she is in the 90% not 50% which makes more sense since she is taller than most of the kids we run into! Still has a small head and still low in weight but hopefully we'll get some answers at the specialist in Louisville!

Family Update

Well it's been a while since I've given an update on everyone so I thought it was time for one! We've had some ups and downs lately...

Jules' reflux hasn't gotten any better so we made another doctors appointment and finally got some headway. We told the doctor how the medicine and formula doesn't seem to be helping with the amount of puking, she still wakes in the night with an acidic smell on her breath and pacifier, and she won't lay on her back (she throat screams from the pain). The doctor says we have exhausted all efforts, can't increase her medicine and therefore gave us a referral to a pediatric gastroenterologist in Louisville ... THANK YOU!!! Please keep her health concerns in your thoughts and prayers that we will get more answers before we leave here and have to start all over with another doctor. Please also pray that her sleeping habits will get better as the reflux does since she is only sleeping 30-40 minutes at a time which is exhausting for everyone and makes for very difficult days.

On the upside, Jules is starting to talk more, she is saying "ba" which sounds like bye-bye, or ba-ba (for a bottle) and anything else you want to pretend... we video taped it the first time because it sounded like bye-bye but agree it doesn't really count if she doesn't know what she is saying :) She also has started saying something like "ma" but only when crying so I do not count that as ma-ma since I don't want her saying it only when she crys :) She is very active, crawling everywhere and tinkering with everything... she is going to need to be challenged in school, we know that much, since she can't even eat her bottle without being distracted - she likes rubbing her fingers on EVERYTHING! She is now 27" tall which is apparently slightly less than 50% yet she is taller than most kids her age?!?!! She is also 16 pounds, 7 ounes which is on the low side of 25% so we are still struggling to keep the food down but doing ok enough not to worry the doctors anymore :)

I have also had some health concerns lately. I don't want to go into specifics but please just keep me in your prayers as well as I will be finding out in about 2 weeks if I will need to have a procedure and if so please pray that the procedure will be successful.

On another up side, I started guitar lessons with my early birthday present and am having a blast! So far I can play Amazing Grace and am working on America the Beautiful :) I am coming home and teaching Jonathan too which is making it even more fun!

Speaking of Jonathan, he is up to no good :)... no he just is having a very difficult time with his instructor! Recently his instructor disqualified him in a pt test and then approached him later ripping him up one side and down the other but Jonathan remained calm and didn't argue with him even though he knew he was right. Later the instructor realized he was wrong and admitted it to the class, although an apology would have been nicer after being such a butt :) We are almost done here in KY and are very much looking forward to moving. Please keep Jonathan's studies in your prayers and that he will be able to get enough rest to concentrate in class since Jules isn't being cooperative :) Please also keep our home in DC in mind, we really need to sell it in order for me to continue to be able to stay home with Jules.

Here are some silly photos from our last photos shoot ... gotta love her :)

My Early Birthday Present!

So I thought since this is supposed to be a "family" blog, I would put something not "Juliana" related up ... Jonathan gave me a huge surprise when I returned from Texas. I had a big box in the living room which turned out to be a guitar case with a note in it promising a guitar. Later that night I walked into the bedroom to get something and found a brand new guitar with a huge blue bow on it! On top of that I start lessons this next tuesday :) Thus the reason for getting the guitar early, we move less than a month after my birthday which leaves no time for lessons. In case you are a guitar fan and wondering, it's a Schecter C-1 E/A. I found it through my church back home, the music guy plays one and the sound of it is just awesome!! I AM SOOOO EXCITED!!!

8 Month Slideshow

Check it out on the right ----->

8 Months

Well Hello Everyone,
I turn 8 months old next week and GG took some fabulous 8 month pictures for us while we were in Texas. I am teething pretty bad and mom is just waiting for a tooth to pop out or she says she'll go insane. I don't know what she's complaining about, it's my mouth that is always in pain!! I am moving around quite well crawling but still much prefer to walk which is stressing mom out. I have no idea how big I am right now because I haven't had a doctor's appointment but am still pretty tall :) I am pretty good with strangers although right now I just want to be held by mommy and daddy since I don't feel so great. While in Texas I got to ride "Stoney", mom's friend's horse, she calls him a great dane, same difference! I got to see most of my aunts and uncles, saw both my cousins and waved hi to a soon to be one, and spent time with all my grandparents. Life is great :) Mommy, Daddy, Hogman and I go back this Christmas and mommy says we will celebrate my birthday just a bit early so all those important people in my life can share my first birthday with me! My reflux was getting better before my trip to Texas but traveling and teething have made it worse momentarily. Mom keeps up on her research so I know I am getting all the help I can get! Here are a few of my favorite 8 month pictures...
Love,
Jules

So daddy decided one morning to venture out on his own with me and run a few errands, allowing mommy a chance to actually sleep in. We went to get daddy a haircut, purchase some Army stuff and get daddy's passport picture made. I stayed in my car seat while all the barbers talked to me and kept me smiling while daddy got his haircut! I had fun shopping at US Calvary for a "bladder" for daddy's "camel back" (such silly names) and even tried on this helmet! We ended our day that night going out to dinner where I tried my first cucumber! Daddy cut out all the seeds and then only let me have it for a minute until I tore it into smaller pieces, then mommy freaked and took it away :)

7 months and the Olympic Spirit

So my child must have caught the Olympic spirit from watching the Olympics recently... we turn 7 months this Sunday and within a week we have learned to crawl and pull ourselves into a kneeling and standing position. I don't know what to do!!! She is going to be a handful alright!

Here I am after pulling myself into a kneeling position

Here I am talking to the girl in the mirror

Here I am crawling, yes crawling!!

Here I am after pulling myself to a standing position...

Mom promptly lowered the floor of my play yard!
